Steve has not sent me anything yet so I am going to write up what I know and hopefully he or Taunya will send me the correct write up. Here is what I remember. Some information might be slightly wrong but the general story is correct:
Steve is married to Taunya and they have one child, Alexander who is the center of their lives. Steve and Taunya first met on their missions to the New York, New York Mission. Neither one of them recall a romantic attraction while in the same District in their mission, at least not that Steve will admit. The romance began several years later when they were at BYU and started reminiscing about their mission memories and it quickly turned into love. They were married shortly after in the Washington D.C. Temple. If I remeber correctly they will be celebrating their 24th wedding aniversary this year.
They soon moved to Arizona and Steve attended Arizona State University where he graduated with a bachelors in Purchasing. Steve took a job, in the then booming silicon valley, as a purchaser for a Tech company. Taunya then attended Cal State - Hayward and graduated with a dual masters degree specializing in Child Psychology. They called Santa Clara home for several years. Until they eventually about 12 years ago purchased a home in San Jose. Steve's career has taken some interesting turns along the way. He started out in the Purchasing Dept and eventually transitioned into finance. I do not know all the details; however, I do know he later took a job as an accountant for a small construction company in the area. He eventually became the CFO until a large construction company bought out the company he worked for. He continued to work for the large construction company as an accountant for several years until recently about 4 years ago he took a position as an accountant for a large engineering firm in the Oakland area. Taunya has worked for the local schools as a child psychologist for several years.
Alexander- Came along to their family about 1998. Alexander is graduating from 6th grade this year and starts Junior High this fall. He is a fantastic artist, he paints animals, scenery, abstracts and even some clay sculptures. Alexander competes on a community swim team which is a big Saturday, all day event for the Bailesses.
Steve, as you might guess, has served for several years in their ward as the Financial Clerk and Taunya serves with Young Women in the Ward.
As a family they love to vacation. Red Fish Lake and Hawaii are their two favorite spots to visit. Taunya's family has family reunions at Red Fish Lake every couple of years that get them there regularly. I am pretty convinced Steve would move to Hawaii if he could figure out how to afford it.
Steve is suprisingly a huge Jazz fan after all these years away from Utah. He enjoys Golfing and incorporates golf into about any trip he makes.
Taunya has always had a desire to visit Russia, they hope to make it there in the next few years.
If I had say what trait Steve gets from mom it would be his love to sleep in. Or just sleep. Steve also is always concerned with how everyone is doing. He calls me regularly to find out what I know about mom and dad to make sure they are ok.
