Cindy and Dan

Cindy met Dan about 11 years ago. They met on the job. Both are carpenters. Dan decided to be a carpenter because his father was also a carpenter. Me? Well, I just kinda fell into it. I was working in a factory making a whopping $3.25/hr. I was at a friends and they were trying to talk one of the guys into coming to work for them because they needed people. (They were doing house foundations). They told Bruce he could start at $6/hr. I thought, "Wow! $6/hr!" So I asked if ti was something I could do? Everybody laughed, but Dennis, who was the foreman of a crew. He came and told me if I was serious, to show up at the cafe' in the morning at 6:00. I figured how much harder can it be than lugging hay bales. So I showed up...Everybody took bets on how long I would last. The owner of the company said, "she will be gone by tomorrow at the latest", and sent me to pack 8' simeon forms all day. The next day I was so sore I could hardly move! I put enough Bengay on that your eyes watered if you got within 10' of me. But I found that I really liked the job and had a natural aptitude for it. One thing all of my bosses have said is that I have a good work ethic. That is something growing up that Mom and Dad would insist on. Mom and Dad might have despaired it would ever stick when I was younger; but it did and has benefited me ever since.

I have 3 children:
Lee- is 26 yrs old. He is living and working in Provo, UT. He is a whiz at computers. He aslo likes playing video games and bike riding.
Kaysha- is 20 yrs old. She is married to Colin Kitten, yes that means her name is now Kaysha Kitten. We got a good laugh out of that one. She is going to college to get a teaching degree. She is currently working at Bath and Body Works. She is also considering a degree in Business Management. She has done so well at Bath and Body Works that she already assistant manager. They live in Windsor, CO.
Christina- is 13 yrs. old. She will be going into the 8th grade next year. Her favorite things are horses and her cats. She was accepted for AVID(an advanced placement program) for next year, and we are waiting to see if she gets to be a web leader (they pair up with a 6th grader and help them with the transition to middle school).

We live in Bonney Lake, WA. It is a wonderful place to live. Lake Tapps is a glacier fed, man made lake 5 minutes away. We go swimming and boating there quite a bit. we have Mt. Rainier National Forest 30 minutes away. Yes it is a volcano, so far dormant. We like to go camping up there a lot. And we have the ocean just a little over 2 hours away. Yes it does rain here a lot but everything is so green and pretty all year long. I lived in Las Vegas for about 6 years. then went to San Diego for about 6 months them the move here. My best friend Donna moved here from Colorado at the same time as me. At first we told the kids "no you can't go outside and play it's raining" then as time went on and it was still raining the response was "here let's put on your rain coat and boots if you are going outside" then as more time went on "fine go outside a little rain won't kill ya".

Most of my favorite memories are of growing up on the farm. I loved the horses just like Christina. We had a swing in one of the trees, it seemed to go so high when I was younger.
I remember Steve and I loved James Bond movies and playing spy. We also liked Star Trek, but Steve always got to be the Captain and I always had to be Spock.

Dan loves sports! You name it, he loves it. I always pick the opposite team as him just to have a little fun. He golf's. I don't know how to golf, but people tell me he is really good. We both love NASCAR. Kasy Khane is from Enumclaw, WA just 15 minutes away so we always cheer for him.

I am most like Mom and Dad in that my kids are a very big part of my life. Our favorite vacation spot? Mesquite, NV because it is not as expensive as Las Vegas and is sunny of course.

Vickie is married to Troy Robert Kingsford. Troy is from Newbury Park, California. They met while serving thier missions in the Boston, Massachusetts mission. Troy was Vickie's Zone Leader in what was her first area. Obviously they ran into each other at mission functions from time to time, but that was it for the mission days. Troy went home a little more than six mopnths before Vickie and when she got home he was in Provo going to what was then UVSC. There was a group from the mission-field all in the Provo area for various reasons and they would get together and hang out. Sooner than later the group got a lot smaller and just Troy and Vickie were hanging out. Vickie got home at the end of January. They were engaged in mid April, and married September 16, 1994.

Troy went to UVSC for a short time to get enought credits to transfer to BYU. Vickie had worked in a salon doing hair before her mission, but out of fear of her former boss and not doing hair for a while she looked for something different. After a couple of temp jobs she ended up at Mega Diamond in Provo. It was a good job that provided stable income while Troy went to school. In 1999 Troy gradutaed from BYU with a Masters in Accounting. His first job was for PriceWaterhousCoopers. in Phoenix, AZ. They moved to Mesa AZ in June of 1999. Troy works as a Controller for a real estate development company. Vickie spends her time at home with the kids.

Troy and Vickie are the proud parents of six great kids.

Emily Brooke was born in Utah November 16, 1996. She is now 131/2 and in 7th grade. She is very talkative. You can tell when she hasn't had the opportunity to speak much 'cause you can't get her to quit talking!. She plays the violin and does tumbling and cheer.

Rachel Nicole was also born in Utah March 31, 1999. She is in 5th grade and she just turned 11. She can't wait for her turn to have the teenage life like her sister. She plays the cello and played softball for the first time this year. She did pretty well, ending up onthe pitcher's mound. She is really good at consoing and playing with little ones.

Robert John was the first born in Arizona, October 1, 2001. He is 8 and in 2nd grade. Eh is well liked by all; boys and girls alike! He loves to play most sports and does pretty well. He has very good penmanship and can draw well. He just had soem art work chosen to be displayed in an elementary art show.

Logan Spencer was born in Mesa, March 27, 2003. He is in the 1st grade and just turned 7. He is the wild child! But underneath all the craziness he is a softy. He has a million dollar smile and all his teachers love him even though he tests them in every aspect. he lov es sports as well. He also had some art chosen to be displayed in an elementary art show.

Ethan Thomas was born in Mesa, November 12, 2004. He is 5 1/2 and getting ready to graduate from preschool. Ethan is very good a tputting puzzles together. He also loves to build and create with Legos. He usually does well with anything he can just sit and do on his own. He is pretty quiet and shy.

Laci Elaine was born in Gilbert, September 18, 2007. She was the 1st baby born at a brand new hospital just a couple of minutes away from home. She is 2 1/2 and boy does everyone know it! She keeps us all hopping. And she is so darn cute you can't help but love her. She talks pretty well and lets you know she wants todo it all on her own!!

So back to the family as a whole. They have livedin Mesa for 7 1/2 years before building a home in Gilbert, Arizona which is just south of Mesa. Gilbert used to be all farm country, but now the farms are few and far between. With the summers so dand hot their first option on the new home was a pool! They spend most of the summer there and usually escape the heat by heading north to Utah.

Their favorite sport is whatever is in season! They do LOVE football a bit more than the others though. As for favorite teams, well lets see.... They like the New England Patriots because they are based out of Mass. Troy has some weird like with the Oakland Raiders(it must be the underdog thing) and of course they have to root on the home team....Go Cardinals!!! But when it comes to college there is only true blue blood in their home! And just so we are clear that would be the true blue of BYU(rise and shout)!

The favorite family memories Vickie likes to think about have both been brought up by Tim and Richie (Thanks guys). She likes to think back to the good 'ole Sunday drives up the canyon and the great trips to Lake Powell and even Bear Lake too. Thos have definitely been some good times to look back on.

If you want to know which trait Vickie has that is most like one of our parents: All sh has to ask is ...Would you like to take a ride? If you don't get it you can ask mom or Vickie when you see her in July.

Rich and Angela have been married for 14 years. They met while in college. They were both working at Media Play (a music, movies and books entertainment store) in Orem. Angela worked at Customer Service and Rich worked back in the stockroom. A girl that Angela worked with at Customer Service was a friend of Rich's from his home ward. She kept encouraging Rich to ask her out. Rich finally got the courage to ask her out. Their first date was on Feb. 25, 1995.

Rich quit Media Play shortly after their first date. He always said he worked there just long enough to find what he was looking for and when he found her it was time to return to construction working with Kevin. They continued to date and were married nearly a year later on Jan. 12, 1996. They are looking forward to celebrating their 15th wedding anniversary in Hawaii.

Today Rich and Angela have 5 beautiful girls. Yes ALL GIRLS! Can you imagine Richie in a house full of girls (even the dog is a girl)? Somebody once told him that nature likes to be balanced. Since he has so much testosterone nature had to balance him out by sending him a house full of estorgen. Though it is a house full of energy and emotion, as you can well imagine, Rich and Angela wouldn't trade it for the world. Their children are:

Aubrie (age 9 nearly 10)- Aubrie is a very happy and helpful girl. She is very friendly and makes friends everywhere she goes. She is always willing to help her mom with whatever is needed. She loves school and does very well. She is a straight A student. She just tried out for the fifth grade cheerleading squad and made it. She is looking forward to a summer full of cheerleading activities.

Ashlynn (age 8)- is in second grade and also does very well. She is a math wiz. She continues to amaze her teacher with her abilities to do math problems in her head before the rest of the class can work them out on paper. ( She must be her daddy's daughter). She is also quite the artist. She loves doing crafts and can make just about anything out of paper. Anything from swingsets for her barbies or candy dispensing machines, all with moving and working parts. Her ability to conceptualize something and bring it to fruition never ceases to amaze her parents. Her parents wonder if she will become an architect or engineer when she grows up.

Amanda (age 5)-Is the little princess. She always wants to wear a skirt but is always the first to play in the dirt or collect bugs. She is a tomboy disguised as a princess. She is a very energetic and happy little girl. She loves to be in front of the camera posing and has the cutest smile with dimples that you have ever seen. She is also quite a little daredevil. Last summer at the age of 4 she learned to ride a two-wheeler bike without ever using training wheels and she also got up on a wakeboard behind the family boat. She loves to be outside playing with her friends and little sister. She is very excited to start Kindergarten this fall.

Autumn (age 3)-is a spitfire red head. She too is full of energy. She loves to follow her big sister Amanda around the neighborhood. She also loves being the big sister to Abigail. On Sundays in nursery when Abigail is sad she will sit down on the floor and hold her baby sister until she calms down. She is mommy's little helper. She loves to be wherever mommy is and doing whatever mommy is doing. She is a great little helper. She is excited about starting pre-school this fall.

Abigail (age 18 months)- is the perfect caboose to the family. Her smile is too cute and her curly hair makes her absolutely irresistable. She is a very happy and busy busy little girl. She doesn't walk anywhere she RUNS. She loves to climb onto and into everything. If we don't keep a close eye on her we can find her dancing on top of the kitchen table, climbing into cupboards or playing splish splash in the toilet. She loves to follow her sisters around and is convinced she is as big as they are. She loves to play outside. She is also quite the little jabberbox. She is always jabbering or singing songs as she goes. She brings so much joy into the home.

Rich and Angela currently live in Lehi, Utah. They enjoy the small town feel. They moved to Lehi in 2004 after 3 years of living all over the country. Though they love being settled down they also truly loved the years of living all over the country. Rich's job at that time was as a superintendant for Jacobsen Construction which had a partnership with the Church to build chapels. So from the year 2001 till 2004 they had the opportunity to build chapels all over. They lived in Upstate NY, just outside Fayette, NY where the Church was first organized. 9 months later they moved to Portland, OR and again 9 months later they moved to Wasilla, Alaska, then again 8 months later they moved to St. Louis, MO and after a short 4 month stay they moved back home to Utah and settled in Lehi.

No surprise that Rich chose to work in Construction. He developed a great love for construction through the years of working with dad and Kevin. He went to BYU and earned a degree in Construction Management and Business Management. Rich now works for Big-D Construction, a local commercial construction compay, as a Project Manager. He loves his job and is very successful. Last year he was the number 2 money maker for the entire company. He currently is managing two projects at Hill Air Force base in Ogden, UT. He is overseeing the construction of a new firestation on base and a F-22 service hanger. He loves his work and the ability to see a project through from conception to completion. He is also grateful for the ability to stay local and be with is family.

Angela also is a BYU graduate in Business Management with an emphasis in Organizational Behavior. She worked for 4 years as a Human Resource manager for Target. She quit her job in 2001 to be a stay at home mom and travel with Rich as he began his career. She loved all of the places they lived and above all else loves and is grateful for the opportunity to be a stay at home mom. She is very busy keeping up with her very busy and fun brood of girls. She enjoys reading and participating in book clubs. She also enjoys scrapbooking when she has time. Most of all she loves being with her family.

As a family , they love to go boating. Rich is quite the wakeboarder. It is a lot of fun to watch him get some serious air as he jumps both wakes. The girls all love to ride on the tube behind the boat. They also love to swim and play in the water. So far, Amanda, is the only one to successfully wakeboard but all are determined to do so this year.

We also love to hook up to the travel trailer and go on long camping road trips. Some of our favorite have been to Red Fish Lake in Idaho, Mt. Rushmore and Yellowstone. This May we are looking forward to a trip down the Oregan-California coast on HWY 101. Angela's brother will be blessing his new baby girl in Portland, OR. So they will start their trip there and then venture down the Oregon coast, through the Redwood Forest and on down through California to San Fancisco where they will visit Steve and Taunya and then return home to Utah.

As you can see with all of the places we have lived and the places we have visited it would be hard to choose a favorite vacation. We love being together as a family and having new adventures. However, one of our hopes is to return to Upstate NY every 5-7 years or so to let our girls visit all of the wonderful church history sites that we were blessed to live amongst for a short time. Our last visit there was about 4 years ago.

As for favorite sports teams....Is it any surprise that we are die hard BYU fans? We even have our youngest girls chanting "Go Cougars!" Rich is sure to keep up on the season Football tickets. When she can, Angela enjoys going to the games, Ashlynn especially enjoys going to the games with her daddy. On the professional football level Rich also is a fan of the BROWNS, though no one can quite figure out why since they have such a great record ( I believe it is related to childhood nostalgia).

Favorite Family Memory- Rich enjoys the memories of trips with the family to Lake Powell. Some of the most fun and having everyone together and eating Dad's sand cakes was the trips to Lake Powell. Maybe that is why we have a boat to make some great memories of our own. Some of the highlights that stick out on the Lake Powell trips are: Hal falling on his head out the motorhome window, chasing lizards around the camp site, Ken with the biggest blisters ever on the top of his feet, our own little island, riding on Scott's shoulders while he water ski'd, visiting Rainbow Bridge and the time Steve and Scott were paddling the little boat back to the marina and Dad did a sharp turn in the boat right in front of them and almost sank them right there. (Steve is not so fond of that memory from what I hear)

As for what trait was inherited from Mom or Dad, Rich loves long road trips. Last year he drove to a project in Montana every week, leaving at 3am Monday and returning aroung 10pm Tuesday with 4 hours of meeting in Montana in between. Angela says Rich got Dad's stubborness, we all know that is not true (ha ha).
